Two primary schools to close
In Burgenland two primary schools will be forced to close down this Friday because of a lack of pupils.
Local education officials said they were forced to close the two schools in Neusiedl bei Güssing and Deutsch Gerisdorf because last year less than ten children were enrolled. From now on the kids have to attend primary school in the neighbouring towns.
According to Michaela Resetar (ÖVP), twelve compulsory school buildings will be renovated with a budget of 15.7 Million Euros during the summer holidays.
Gerhard Resch, the President of the School Board of the Province of Burgenland, predicts that around 20 million Euros will be spent for renovation works of school buildings in the region.
The renovation of the grammar school in Neusiedl am See has just been completed and is reopening in Autumn.
The officials of the state of Burgenland are already planning on renovating two more schools in Eisenstadt with a budget of 24 Million Euros.
