Debate over Professor title for teachers
A heated debate about how students and school children should address their teachers has been branded "stupid and irrelevant" by the People's Party education spokesman Josef Sampl.
He said that the main thing was the quality of the education and that talking about how to address teachers was pointless.
In the new proposal for the teachers conditions of service it is suggested that in the future all qualified teachers from primary school through to higher education should be addressed with the title Professor.
But Josef Sampl is of the opinion that this question mark over the form of address is completely unnecessary to debate.
He said: "We need teachers that can provide a good education for our children to make sure they are well raised and well-informed. Whatever you call these teachers is only of secondary importance."
Sampl added that he believed it was also relevant for most teachers how they were addressed.
