Dalai Lama lectures and gives away Tibetan certificates
The first 70 graduates of the academic courses at the Tibetan Centre in Hüttenberg, Carinthia were given their certificates by the Dalai Lama himself.
The Tibetan Centre in Hüttenberg aspires to the status of a university. The studies include Tibetan culture, philosophy and medicine.
As a part of his Carinthia visit, Dalai Lama – the spiritual leader of the Tibetan Buddhists – congratulated the first graduates of the centre personally.
The theoretical and practical education at the Tibetan Centre lasts for three years. The centre has also signed a sponsorship contract with the provincial government of Carinthia which will last for five more years. The next semester begins this fall.
In addition, the Tibetan leader held a lecture in the Klagenfurt exhibition hall on religion and philosophy which was attended by around 4,000 people.
Exile Tibetans will use the visit to raise awareness of the Chinese oppression of Tibet, and to demonstrate against the same during a week in Vienna.
Dalai Lama left Carinthia yesterday (Sunday) after having held a lecture on the art of being happy.
