Vote for Vienna's new souvenir and win a weekend in the capital!
By Rachael Williams
The public are being invited to vote on a recent competition launched by the Vienna Tourist Board where international designers are battling it out to create a new souvenir for Vienna.
The "European Home Run" was initiated in six European countries as an opportunity for designers to showcase their creative talent and fashion their own interpretations of Vienna.
The competition’s aim is to construct a contemporary face for the city as a city of creativity and exciting innovation in the design arena.
The designs range from pop-up cards to music boxes and will be exhibited in the Design Shop of Vienna’s MAK (Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art) from 28th September to 21st October.
All entries can also be viewed online at www.voting.wien.info and as encouragement for the public to vote for their favourite, a weekend getaway is up for grabs for one lucky voter!
Votes will be counted up until and including 17th October.
The six designs will be assessed by a panel of international experts and the winner of the "European Home Run" will be revealed on 24th October at a tourism conference held by the Vienna Tourist Board.
The public’s favourite will also be announced and honoured at this event.
