Record number of people storm Viennas public pools as heat rises
A record breaking number of people visited Vienna's city pools this past weekend.
On Sunday 135,431 people people visited the swimming pools in Vienna - this is the most people ever to visit the city's 17 pools in one single day.
The combined visitor number for Saturday and Sunday was 242,151 people.
The record to date was made on June 22nd 2008 when 125,863 people visited the pools.
More than 1 million people had visited the pools by 1st of July 2012 - since opening for the summer season 1,114,154 people have made a visit to one of the 17 pools.
The most visited pool to cool down is Gänsehäufl followed by Kongressbad and Schafbergbad.
The temperature in Vienna reached 36.8 degrees in Vienna on Sunday. Rome was 5 degrees cooler and Madrid 13 degrees cooler.
