Austrians vote favourite ice cream flavour
Austrians prefer traditional ice cream flavours over new ice cream creations according to a new study by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ)
As temperatures soar there is nothing better than an ice cream to cool down but a new study shows Austrians are not adventurous in their flavour testing and shun flavours such as carrot, oyster and even meat flavoured ice cream.
Chocolate ice cream is the most popular flavour followed by vanilla and hazelnut. Classics such as strawberry, lemon and stracciatella following the most popular rankings. Number 7 in the list is banana, followed in joint eighth place by fiocco, yoghurt and raspberry.
The most popular ‘exotic’ ice cream flavour which won newcomer of the year was cookie. Mango took second place and Nutella was in third place.
Silvio Molin-Pradel from the Ice Cream Dealer Association at the WKÖ said: "It is difficult to come to a conclusion about the further results for the special creations. There are so many different flavours offered by ice parlours – there really are no limits.
Some of the more bizarre flavours are curry and raisin, sesame honey yoghurt, rice pudding, rose petal and goats cheese sorbet.
