Frida Kahlo exhibit to hit Vienna
The first major Frida Kahlo retrospective is to open in Vienna next month.
Officials at the Bank Austria (BA) Kunstforum in Vienna said today (Tues) that the exhibition will be on display between 1 September and 5 December.
The exhibit – currently shown in Berlin – features around 70 paintings and 30 drawings by the late Mexican artist as well as photographic works by her sister Cristina Kahlo.
Kahlo is considered a spearhead of the international feminism movement and one of the prestigious Mexican artists of all time.
"Frida", a biographical movie starring Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina, achieved international acclaim and helped the artist to win many young fans across the world in 2002.
The BA Kunstforum is one of Vienna’s most renowned galleries. It hosted a sensational exhibition focusing on all aspects of still life in 500 years of art earlier this year.
