Prince gig 'relocated over ticket sale flop'
Organisers of one of pop superstar Prince’s rare concerts have been forced to relocate the gig over disappointing ticket sales, it has been claimed.
The seven-time Grammy Award winner was set to rock the football stadium of Linz on 13 July, but it has now emerged that the event will take place in Vienna instead on the same day.
Reports have it that demand for tickets did not match organisers’ expectations. Music newspapers also tipped the concert to be sold out within hours, but thousands of tickets were still available weeks after the sale started in May.
Now organisers have decided to relocate the gig to the federal capital’s Stadthalle concert hall which has a maximum capacity of 12,000, less than half of the number at Linz stadium. "Technical and sound difficulties" were given as the reasons for the move.
Britishrock.cc meanwhile revealed that Canadian dance punk stars You Say Party will perform in Innsbruck on 11 November.
English rock legend Steve Winwood is lined up to hit the stage at the Konzerthaus Vienna on 29 September, and Nick Cave’s Grinderman will perform at the city’s Gasometer concert hall on 10 October.
