Deep Purple to fire up Austria

British hard rock legends Deep Purple will rock Austria this year, it has emerged.

The band, which was founded in 1968 and has gone through several line-up changes over the years, will perform at the Messe fairgrounds in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, on 8 June.

Fans of the group – once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's loudest band – who fail to secure tickets for the Dornbirn show might consider travelling just a few kilometres across the Austrian border to see them live at Munich’s Olympiahalle on 19 November.

Deep Purple have released 18 studio albums between 1968 and 2005, with a new record announced for later this year.

Other upcoming live music highlights are Elton John’s performances in Linz (19 June) and Graz (20 June), the concert of American heavy metal band Megadeth in Vienna on 1 July and the performance of German hip hop pioneers Die Fantastischen Vier in Graz on 16 November.
