15th Annual Red Wine Festival in Burgenland this weekend
Vienna Cathedral Priest Tony Faber is to open the ‘15th annual Red Wine Festival in Mittelburgenland’ this evening (Thurs).
From 12th until 15th of July the top thirty different wine growers from the region are presenting their best wines and inviting visitors to come and enjoy their wines in their open cellars in and around Deutschkreutz in the Austrian province of Burgenland.
Visitors can enjoy the best red wines of the regional wine growers from the year’s 2009, 2010 and 2011. There will also be live music performances, wine talks as well plenty of tasty wines to try and buy.
Visitors can also enjoy wine presentations in the cellars and tours. In the evening there will also be wine tasting events on the main street in Deutschkreutz.
Albert Gesellman leader of the Deutschkreutz Wine Growers Association said: "This is a chance for wine growers to showcase their wines."
The wine growers are hoping for thousands of visitors over the weekend.
Gesellman said: "As well as visitors from Austria, Germany and Switzerland we are also expecting numerous English speaking guests.
A shuttle service connecting local hotels to the wine festival is also on offer.
