Austrias Gourmet Oscars awarded

Austria's food and drink Oscars took place at the Wiener Hofburg this weekend with 600 invited guests.

This year the selection of the winners clearly focused on those that led value on Austrian roots for their businesses.

A la Carte publisher Christian Grünwald said: "One of the great things that we celebrated of course was the tremendous success on the international stage of Austrian restaurants."

In this section Austrian cooking the winner was: Family Fin und Haberl, Restaurant Haberl & Fink, Ilu. The price was handed out by Sandra Frauenberger.

The Public's Choice Trophy: Familie Eselböck, Greisslerei Taubenkobel, Schützen. The prize was handed out by Elisabeth Engstler.

Gourmet: Andreas Gugumuck, Wiener Schnecke, Wien, the prize was handed out by Thomas Maurer.

Best wine grower. Anton Bodenstein, Weingut Prager, Weißenkirchn. The prize was handed out by Willi Klinger.

Best location. Edi Dimant und Tobias Müller, Mochi, Wien. The prize was handed out by Werner Unger, Römerquelle

Most creative kitchen. Simon Taxacher, Restaurant Rosengarten, Kirchberg. The prize was handed out by Lena Hoschek, Modedesignerin.

Honorary Trophy. This led to vegetarian pioneer. The prize was handed out by Doris Bures.

The gourmet magazine A la Carte has organised the event together with mineral water group Römerquelle since 1989.
