Austrian Lotteries win national lottery licence in Albania
Austrian Lotteries has been told by the Albanian Ministry of Finance that it has won the race for the lottery license in the country.
Austrian Lotteries won after putting forward not only a good bid but also a concept that allows for what they called "innovative development of the market" and at the same time "safeguarding principles of paramount importance, namely sustainability, integrity, safety and security, as well as socio-political responsibility in terms of player protection and the protection of minors (Responsible Gaming), as well as the collective good".
The efforts of Austrian Lotteries regarding the protection of minors was recently honoured at the World Lottery Association summit in September 2012 in Canada, when Austrian Lotteries received the award for the best "International Holiday Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign" for its campaign "Games of chance are not a child's play".
In its Albanian application, Austrian Lotteries was able to rely on more than 25 years of experience and its know-how in the domestic market, as well as integrate the knowledge gained in its successful international operations for example in Russia, Argentina and Hungary.
Austrian Lotteries is developing Lotto, scratch-off tickets and Keno, as well as further lottery games for the Albanian market and is planning to launch these products in spring 2013.
"We are pleased that our extensive application was able to convince the Albanian Ministry of Finance. We are confident that we will soon be able to responsibly offer the Albanian population exciting and entertaining games, which at the same time are secure and reliable" says Bettina Glatz-Kremsner, from the Austrian Lotteries' Managing Board.
In 2011, Casinos Austria/Austrian Lotteries Group had 5,403 employees in 20 countries, conducted its business operations on all five continents and achieved sales of 3.471 billion Euro.
