Petrol price calculator first year success
In its first year the petrol price calculator had more than 5.6 million hits.
On average between 15,000 and 20,000 hits were made on the website per day.
Economic Minister Reinhold Mitterlehner announced the figures today (Tuesday). The website http://www.spritpreisrechner.at/ is managed by regulating authorities E Control.
Over 77 per cent of the prices are communicated directly via an automated data link between petrol station chains and the petrol calculator website. 20 per cent are added via the internet and three per cent of the prices are communicated via text message.
In total 3,064 filling stations report on diesel prices and 2,769 report on petrol prices.
According to statistics the calculator is used by 36 per cent of Austrians, a further 21 per cent say they will use it in the future.
On average men use the software more than women and 46 per cent of the users are aged between 20 and 39-years-old.
