Light firms heavy profit drop
Austrian lighting company Zumtobel based in Dornbirn saw a dramatic drop in profits of almost 69 per cent over the last year.
The company said that profit fell from 51 million down to 16 million, even though turnover increased slightly.
Divided into areas of competence, Zumtobel saw turnover with its light business increased by 9.2 per cent to 949 million Euros, for technical parts turnover increased by 6.7 per cent to 408 million Euros.
The company said that in Europe business had been satisfactory but in the rest of the world it had been disappointing. In Asia and America it grew by just 1 per cent and in Australia and New Zealand by 1.5per cent.
The number of staff at the Vorarlberg company remained at 1,834 despite the loss of some part-time staff.
Across the company the number of employees fell from 2,400 full-time staff through to 2,362.
