Airport taxis unhappy with Check in 3
Vienna taxi companies have complained that the new ‘Check in 3’ at Vienna’s Schwechat Airport is too far away now that they are not allowed to park at the terminal as before.
It means that passengers who order a Vienna taxi often at a reduced rate have to walk up to 10 minutes to collect it.
Martin Hartmann, director at Taxi 40100, commented that the distance is now far too long following the renovations. "For passengers, especially those with luggage, it is too far. One of our drivers had a customer on crutches. It was a complete disaster for this passenger."
Only Vienna Airport Taxis can now wait in front of the terminal. Taxi companies offering chauffeur services into the Vienna such as 40100 now have to wait in an underground park garage quite a distance from the terminal.
Taxi companies are now in talks with the airport in an attempt to be able to park nearer the terminal but it is a question of cost. The garage has already extended the time the taxis can spend in the garage.
Despite a few teething problems at the new ‘Check in 3’ passengers have generally responded well to the new airport. The main complaint was form passengers who said it was difficult to find their way around. The airport in response has promised to put up more signs to help passengers find their way.
