AMS sponsors jobs for older workers
The Austrian unemployment service the AMS is tackling unemployment among older workers with a new initiative entitled "Jobs for the Older".
The initiative was unveiled after it was shown that unemployment from January until April had increased by 7.9 per cent among older workers.
The initiative means that there is money available for companies that are prepared to take on older workers.
The situation in the job market remains tense for all those looking for work particularly for older job hunters.
The AMS subsidies and assistance to companies are for jobs that are for women aged over 45 and for men aged over 50.
The subsidies are available for three months. The first month’s salary will be taken over by the AMS 100 per cent – and they will pay 50 per cent of the second and third month salaries.
That means every employer pays just one month but gets three months’ work.
The initiative will continue to run until September.
