Christie + Co to open Vienna office
Christie + Co has presented plans to open its first branch in Austria later this year.
The globally operating real estate consulting and transaction firm said today (Thurs) that it hoped to establish significant representation in the Central European region, adding that former KPMG BUD senior adviser Lukas Hochedlinger would run the branch in the Austrian capital.
Christie + Co announced that Hochedlinger would focus on evaluation of the hotel industry in Austria and other Central and Southern European countries.
There are around 13,600 hotels in Austria, according to the company.
The Vienna office will be Christie + Co’s 11th international representation.
Austrian state agency Statistik Austria said recently that 20.88 million overnights by Austrians had been registered at hotels and pensions across the country in the first seven months of this year, up by 2.2 per cent year on year.
It added the overall number of overnights by foreign guests had remained stable year on year with 57.89 million, adding that Germany, Italy and Belgium were the only major markets of guests with declining overnight figures.
The number of overnights by holidaymakers from Russia (32.9 per cent), the United States (17.7 per cent) and Sweden (17.2 per cent) increased most significantly, according to the agency.
