Man falls forty metres whilst trying to take photograph

A Dutch holidaymaker in Lend in Pinzgau, Austria, plunged forty metres when he leaned back against some rotten wood which gave way as he tried to take a photograph.

The 52-year-old man was walking up a route near the Kitzlochklamm on Wednesday when he leaned back against a wooden fence to take a picture.

The rotten wood gave way sending the man plunging around 40 metres down a steep embankment.

The man who suffered spinal injuries, a broken arm as well as concussion was rescued by mountain rescuers.

He was flown by helicopter to hospital in Schwarzach.

Police are investigating the circumstances and are checking who is responsible for the upkeep of the walkways.
