  • Museum offers a feast of shoes for footwear lovers
    The "Museum Palais" in Graz is focusing on shoes: high heels, sneakers or working shoes – there is hardly any other piece of clothing which has so many different designs.
  • Bird watching holidays are a hit with visitors
    Last weekend, the fourth "Pannonian Bird Experience" started in Illmitz at lake Neusiedler See in Burgenland. The first few excursions and the additional event have already been fully booked.
  • Karawanken Park gets UNESCO status
    The Carinthian cross-border geopark Karawanken-Karavanke will be taken into the European and global geopark network under the protection of UNESCO. Governor Peter Kaiser (SPÖ) acknowledged the park as an "important investment for the future".
  • Ernst Grissemann and Gottfried Schwarz open brand new show in Vienna
    Ernst Grissemann and Gottfried Schwarz, two of Austria’s most brilliant broadcasters, are taking to the stage in a brand new show in German, Prost Mahlzeit! (Cheers, Bon Appétit!) which will première at the Akzent Theatre in Vienna on April, 20.
  • Styrian awarded best stuntman
    They jump off skyscrapers, are carried away by cars and burst into flames – stuntmen double famous actors in dangerous film scenes. The Styrian stuntman Joe Tödtling has now been awarded for his skills.
  • Row over growing use of English
    The Viennese Association Muttersprache (mother tongue) stands up for the German language and tries to offer alternative terms of English words. Around 7,000 English words were explained and translated in the index of Anglicism.
  • Vienna honours James Last
    The bandleader James Last was honoured by the state of Vienna for special services to music. "Take your life easy and love music. It is the most beautiful thing that exists", was his advice at the ceremony.

  • Alternative museum reviews - The Department of Planned Languages and Esperanto Museum
    The Department of Planned Languages and Esperanto Museum can be found inside the Pallais Mollard; a short walk from the U3 station Herrengasse. It is part of a much larger collection which is owned by the Austrian National Library and also includes the Globe and Papyrus museums.
  • Folk history museum in new feathers
    Founded in the 19th century, the Folk Museum of Vienna will now be reorganised. The administration came up with a new name and logo and will establish a new website. More details will become public this April.
  • New lemur babies at Schönbrunn zoo
    With their large curious eyes and their little tails ringed in black and white, three new lemur babies are providing the new entertainment at Schönbrunn zoo.
  • Become a hero at the comic fair
    Lucky Luke, Superman and Mickey Mouse – these are the heroes with speech bubbles. At this year’s Comic Fair on 7 April you can become your hero in the Cosplay costume competition.
